We also have a yard in the heart of Goole Docks, moorings on the river Ouse at Naburn Lock, York and on the canal and the river Trent at Keadby near Scunthorpe.

This enables us to cover all the waterways of  Yorkshire, Humberside and Nottinghamshire with large boats and easy access to the motorway network for road transportable boats and pontoons.

Alan Oliver has, since 1975, pioneered the operation of passenger boats on the Yorkshire waterways. Originally with the narrow boat "Achilles" and from 1978 with the ex Clyde ferry "Wyre Lady". Although no longer involved in the day to day running of this venerable old ship he maintains close contact with the present operating company and the boat still operates from our moorings at Sprotbrough. www.riverboatcruises.co.uk

Personel

Alan Oliver is in charge of  overall strategy of the company and supervision of contracts. His son Mathew Oliver is in day to day  charge of all boat movements and supervision of the workforce.

All operators have as a minimum CSCS cards for work on construction sites and RYA powerboat licence. Some have MCA Boatmaster’s licence and CPCS for specific items of plant and operations. All operators are constantly made aware of  health and safety and environmental issues with particular stress on the need to avoid pollution.

Boatmaster Recruitment

Ten years ago the MCA introduced a completely new system of licensing for Boat masters, with more categories and more stringent rules and qualifications than the old Boatmans licence.

In recent years construction companies with waterside projects have become more particular about boat operators having a minimum certificate of competence, usually an RYA powerboat certificate but preferably the MCA Boatmasters certificate.

For some time we have recognised the need for a specialist recruitment agency for boat operatives both for the inland waterway network and the offshore wind farm industry.

We have now launched our new business ---- ”Waterworker Recruitment” with a consultant with many years experience in specialised, niche market recruitment.

If you are a company looking for skilled operators or are an operator looking for work then please contact us and see what we can do for you.
